This gym is nearly perfect for our family. I agree it would be nice if the weights were more industrial rather than plastic covered cement, however it gets the job done. Took a few hours for my 12yo and me to put together. I’m a 160m F and haven’t had any issues with size of equipment. We shortened the chain used for the pull down bar to make those exercises more challenging. Overall, this is an excellent product.

I researched this purchase extensively and really took every part of this product into consideration. Obviously a big part of research is reading the reviews of others and trying to react accordingly. This is my unbiased review of the Marcy 990 home gym.
1. Purchase price is very fair. Free delivery.
2. Shipping. It took 5 days from order to deliver, came in 3 boxes. No damage at all, the main machine box is actually lined in wood.
3. Installation. This honestly took me less than 3 hours. Directions are easy to read, all parts are well described and all hardware is labeled nicely. Honestly 2 1/2 hours by myself.
4. Operation of the machine is very smooth. All cables and pulleys are located as to make this a very nice working unit.

I have lifted weights for decades. I used to be a fairly heavy lifter and still consider myself more of a weight lifter than the average person. I can tell you that this gym does just about everything you need it to do. If you grow out of this gym you will have already become pretty strong and much larger than when you started.

Packaging perfect. Had to unbox in driveway and haul stuff in. Way heavy. Assembly instructions perfect. (pictures worth thousands of words) Almost exactly the right number of bolts washers etc. ( a few spares, labeled as spares).

First I would like to say that I built this by myself, it took me 5 hours including unpacking it. Having someone else there I could say Would Have Made It Go much faster. I unpacked everything and organized it. The main stack cover was bent and damaged and shipping. But customer service quickly took care of me and ordered another one to replace it. A 5/8 ratchet will come in handy. Reading through the very short instructions will help significantly, especially when it comes down to when you tighten bolts and when you do not tighten them. I would also suggest that when you are installing the pulleys that you do not tighten them down until you are sure you have the cable in correct alignment. I also added a little silicone lubricant to the pulleys and the cable Glides right through. As of now I’m very happy with the product. The instructions are very easy to follow
